With the redesign of COFFEE PLANT’s visual identity, our main goal was to create a modern and cohesive aesthetic that not only stands out on the shelf but also reflects our core values of simplicity, joy, and authenticity. We wanted to ensure that the design was accessible, fresh, and easy to navigate for both coffee aficionados and newcomers. We aimed for a balance between minimalism and warmth, creating an inviting visual language that communicates our passion for coffee without overwhelming the consumer. The inspiration behind the design came from the desire to break away from traditional, flavor-based color coding in coffee packaging. Instead, we focused on the preparation methods—espresso, pour-over, and capsules—using a simple yet striking color scheme: yellow for espresso, red-orange for pour-over, and pink for capsules. This shift not only helps guide the consumer’s decision but also simplifies the buying experience. The design process was a year-long journey, with close collaboration between COFFEE PLANT and renowned graphic designer Mateusz Machalski. His expertise and fresh perspective were invaluable in crafting the final visual language, drawing on both contemporary design principles and the brand's commitment to creativity and innovation. According to Machalski, the goal was to create "a gradient-geometry world, where the three main categories—espresso, pour-over, and capsules—could be distinguished by simple, yet bold color fields." This approach not only differentiates COFFEE PLANT on the shelf but also ensures that each product has its own visual identity while remaining part of a unified brand system. Ultimately, we wanted the design to tell a story—one that speaks to both the quality of our coffee and our dedication to good design. The result is a cohesive, aesthetically pleasing identity that represents COFFEE PLANT as a brand that embraces both taste and creativity.
