The world, and Seattle especially, is often gloomy, sad, and dreary. Gloom's purpose is to remind each other that even though there's a lot of darkness, there's also light. And light is even more powerful than the darkness.
Gloom hopes to be bright spot in someone's day. Whether that's through sipping on a delicious coffee, hanging out with one of the baristas in the cafe, or just repping a piece of merch with some super cute illustration on it.
The ultimate goal is to help people remember that they're super valuable, that there are people around them who see them and love them, and that this life is actually such a gift... even on the gloomiest days. Just like each of the gloomy guys that make up a fun and beautiful brand, just like each cloud that makes up a beautiful sunrise or sunset, you and me make a beautiful tapestry called the human life.
Together, we can move in a way that brings love and light into this world. Together we can live in a gloomy world while shining so brightly.
ste typically comes from excess. Excess usually comes from a disordered desire for me. "If I had this, then I'll be happy.
If I had what that person has, I'll be enough. If I just experience everything, then my life will have had meaning." These sorts of lies go completely contrary to the mission of gloom.
Gloom is about finding joy in the little things. The people around you to love, embrace, and cherish.
