For the 2024 World AeroPress Championship’s visual identity, we drew inspiration from Lisbon’s melting pot of design influences, from the pastel-hued cobbled streets and intricately tiled coffee kiosks, to art deco lettering and the iconic Azulejos. Our poster for 2024 builds off the core tile logo mark and leans further into the coffee brewing process with kettles pouring, droplets falling, steam rising, filters unfolding and AeroPresses plunging. The colour brand palette aims to capture the glowing pastel tones of our 2024 destination city, Lisbon; from blue azulejos tiles and the dramatic metalwork of the Santa Justa lift to the crispy gold of a pastel de nata. Across all assets, both digital and physical, our use of familiar pastel tones and textures combined with elegant typography and Azulejo-inspired marks gave our 2024 season identity an unmistakable ‘saudade’ for Portugal’s capital city. The 2024 WAC took place in September 2024, bringing together hundreds of competitors, judges, and coffee enthusiasts to Lisbon to crown the next world champion, with tens of thousands more tuning in online. Rolling out the WAC event identity each year is an opportunity for us to step up to the challenge of upholding the professional look and feel expected from a world-level competition, while remaining approachable, inclusive and attractive to the world of coffee enthusiasts. From our perspective, creating an event that both enthusiasts and professionals feel a calling to is the necessary path forward to introduce the niche world of competitive coffee making to the masses.
