It’s surprising what a pandemic shakeup can bring about or inspire. We weren’t planning a redesign but it naturally evolved during difficult times. Our cafe/roastery rests in a (very) small, remote mountain town on route to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. Every summer we are flooded with travelers and each year we hear stories of how some plan their trip through Pinedale just to visit Pine. One day four motorcyclists from Salt Lake City drove hours just to come visit our cafe. These stories encouraged us to rethink the meaning of our name. We are in Pinedale, Wyoming, on Pine Street, surrounded by pine trees, but pine can be a verb as well as a noun. To pine for something is to yearn longingly and even painfully for. This is how we feel our cafe and coffees have become to those that travel through intentionally or by chance discovering something they will not find again for hundreds of miles.

During Covid we used an icon of a hand holding a to-go cup and decided to expand on the idea. We were reminded of the iconic Adam reaching toward God painted on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. This evoked the expression of desire we were after and completed our concept. We take our brand and what we do seriously but want to have fun during the process. We see this conveyed even through our primary font. From far away the edges appear rounded, yet close up you see the sharp chisel of the corners. As we near the end of this refresh, we feel we have accomplished our goal to inspire a desire to learn more about coffee, curate unique flavors, and connect people to each other and new tastes.
