World AeroPress® Championship
For the 2025 World AeroPress Championships in Seoul, Angel & Anchor developed a custom packaging experience for the official competition coffee that reflected the event’s disco-funk identity and world-stage atmosphere.
Inspired by lava lamps, vinyl records and metallic music packaging, the concept was internally referred to as the “dismantled lava lamp.” The structure combines a fully metallic silver tray with a sliding orange gradient outer box, finished with silver foil disco-ball detailing and blind deboss textures. Rather than directly referencing retro objects in a literal way, the packaging breaks apart their forms, colours and materials into a more layered and considered experience.
Inside, the coffee bag continues the story through references to vinyl inner sleeves and record packaging, with silver foil details carrying through from the outer box and labels inspired by artist stickers and record pricing labels.
Angel & Anchor designed the project to feel less like standard event merchandise and more like a collectible object connected to the championship itself. The packaging aimed to capture both the soulful energy of the Seoul identity and the prestige of a competition featuring national champions from over 60 countries.
Produced as a limited release for competitors and attendees, many of the boxes were kept as souvenirs and display pieces long after the event itself.
