Bold design combined with classic and functional were the main objectives with these Rosso Coffee Roasters bags.

The refreshed, warmer colour palette draws from mid-century industrial and International Typographic Design, nodding to our roots in one of Calgary's original industrial neighbourhoods. Inspiration was also taken from mid-mod editorial/newspaper design, mixing the full variety of weights and italics of our serif typeface to convey minimalist and playful elements. The text logo wrapping around the front and side of the bag created the impactful pop we were looking for.

Another key consideration was to create a functional user experience.

Rosso coffees with a higher acidity rating are packaged in red bags, while lower acidity coffees are in black. Each coffee label has a distinctive colour to provide visual sensory clues as to how the beans will taste.

Easy-to-pronounce phonetics were added under every single-origin coffee name as well as an internal scale of 0-5 to compare the sweetness, acidity, and body. Customers can assess the profile of each of our coffees in seconds and feel comfortable addressing them by name.
