The design of the space itself follows an old design idea where you start with a big item that is seen from far away, which in this case is the big yellow wall with the Portland Coffee Roasters sign. That wall can be seen the instant you enter the airport on the North side. Then, as you approach you get the medium-sized items, like the tables and chairs out front. That is an important message telling your customer this is a coffee shop where you are invited to sit and enjoy your coffee. Then even closer as customers enter the space they see the natural materials and the espresso making equipment and bags of coffee. You use materials that assist people in thinking about quality and thinking about coffee. Quality coffee comes from a quality space, right?
