Pacific Coast Roasters
The goal of the design was to create packaging that immediately communicates that the coffee inside represents something rare and intentional. The Exotic series highlights coffees with distinctive genetics, innovative processing, and exceptional character, so the packaging was designed to feel bold, collectible, and worthy of the coffee it contains. The cylindrical tin format creates a durable container that protects the coffee while encouraging reuse, allowing the package itself to have a life beyond its original purpose. The wraparound design also allows the graphics to unfold as a continuous visual story—from brand identity to origin and tasting information.
The visual language draws from several influences that reflect both the culture of specialty coffee and the spirit of small-batch craft roasting. The illustrated mask references global folk art and cultural symbolism, acknowledging the international journey of coffee from farm to roaster. At the same time, the textured black background, bold typography, and warm yellow accents were influenced by street art and independent design culture, reflecting the grassroots creativity and energy of the craft coffee movement. Vintage collectible tins and traditional artisan packaging also informed the format, reinforcing the idea that the container should feel tactile, durable, and worth keeping.
Overall, the design aims to bridge refinement and raw authenticity—celebrating the rare coffees inside while honoring the global craft and communities that make specialty coffee possible.
Sustainability is addressed through both material choice and sourcing philosophy. The reusable tin container reduces single-use packaging waste and encourages customers to repurpose the container after the coffee is finished.
Beyond the packaging itself, the brand emphasizes direct relationships with small producers and micro-origins, supporting farms that prioritize careful cultivation and processing methods. By highlighting individual farms and rare coffees, the design encourages consumers to think more deeply about where coffee comes from and the people responsible for producing it.
