Florencia y Fortunata was born in 2021 as a social project seeking for the visibility and recognition of women throughout the entire coffee production chain, from the producers to the baristas, all involved in the world of specialty coffee. We believe that each cup of coffee contributes to a fairer and more equitable industry. A company led by women that is fighting for change from the Andes in Peru. The café is located inside a colonial casona built on Inca foundations in the historic centre of Cusco, Peru. The whole proposal was based on finding a balance between such an important architectural building for the city and Florencia y Fortunata. This involved the restoration of various important elements and the integration of new forms and materials in balance with the past. In a city as touristy as Cusco, we have created an atmosphere that invites you to slow down and connect while learning about the specialty coffee industry in the region and about the project itself. We wanted to make sure that we were creating a homelike space where everyone felt welcome and where customers understood our purpose, combining the freshness of a young woman-led brand in a building full of history.
