The Ecotact PourLock® 0.5B was designed to transform one of the most routine yet critical tasks in the coffee industry, preserving freshness, into a smarter and more engaging experience. Our goal was to create a packaging solution that not only protects roasted coffee beans but also celebrates the beauty and quality of specialty beans.
Traditional packaging often hides the coffee beans behind heavy printing and hard pigments. With PourLock® 0.5B, we chose a transparent, No hard pigment design that allows the coffee itself to become the visual centerpiece. This approach reflects the philosophy of specialty coffee: authenticity, traceability, and appreciation of the bean. At the same time, the bag incorporates 9-layer hermetic barrier technology with Close-to-Zero oxygen and water vapor transmission, ensuring that delicate aromas and flavors remain intact.
The design was inspired by the daily workflow of roasters, cuppers, traders, and baristas, who frequently handle small batches of coffee for sampling, evaluation, and transport. The compact 500g holding capacity with a high-quality zipper system makes the bag intuitive to open, pour, reseal, and store, improving both convenience and functionality.
Ultimately, the PourLock® 0.5B represents a balance of hermetic technology, functional design, and aesthetics of a packaging solution that protects the integrity of specialty coffee while allowing the product itself to take center stage.
Sustainability also plays a central role in the design process. The material structure is microplastic-free, recyclable, and free from hard pigments, helping improve recyclability while reducing unnecessary additives.
