The 200 Degrees brand is understated and timeless, reflected in the warm, cosy environment we have created in our shops; tactile spaces with solid wood tables, homely fireplaces, and thick slate countertops. We wanted to recreate this feeling with our packaging. The side panel of our coffee bags features design flourishes that can be found in our shops - ornate woodwork from original mantlepieces (some dating back to the 17th Century) and floral William Morris-inspired wallpaper. It feels like home, and more importantly, it is feels like a place that has been crafted with care. The skill and workmanship in these creations are mirrored in the designs on our packaging, and they communicate the time and effort we put into making every bag of coffee, excelling in our craft. The redesigned bags are like miniature versions of our shops that we send out into the world, bringing a little bit of 200 Degrees into our customers’ homes and workplaces. Like our shops, they are deliberately tactile; the bag is finished with a textured, paper-like quality. The overall messaging is informative and not backwards about coming forwards. The language is accessible, turning the overwhelming trend of technical terms and challenging regional pronunciation on its head. We believe that the packaging reflects our values: to be clear and approachable, to be connected to our craft and to be committed to sustainable practices. We aimed to make the process of communicating with our customers via our packaging more emotional, on par with the quality experience we deliver in all pillars of our business at 200 Degrees. This packaging is now a true reflection of our brand, and key to helping our customers drink better coffee, which is the reason why we do what we do.
