Simple Cafeine was created from a desire to democratize specialty coffee and make it feel more accessible, contemporary and part of everyday life.
Like many people in the specialty coffee industry, I fell in love not only with the coffee itself, but with the people, places and culture surrounding it : producers, roasters, coffee shops and the sense of community behind the industry. Through the colorful, joyful and intuitive packaging of Simple Cafeine, I wanted to create an easier and more approachable entry point into that world.
The tagline “pocket coffee”, “café de poche” in French, and the illustrated coffee cup on the packaging were both created to immediately communicate the core idea behind the product: a simple, nomadic and accessible way to enjoy specialty coffee anywhere. It was important for me that people could understand the product at first glance and instantly imagine how it could fit into their everyday life.
The individually wrapped brew bag format was designed to be portable, intuitive and easy to use without equipment or technical knowledge, making good coffee possible anywhere without having to choose between convenience and quality.
Simple Cafeine was imagined for the moments where good coffee often feels inaccessible: while traveling, at the office, in a hotel room, on a hike, in an Airbnb or simply at home without equipment.
Another important part of the project is bringing specialty coffee into places where people do not necessarily expect to find it, such as concept stores or lifestyle spaces. Through the packaging and QR code, consumers can also discover the origin, producers and craftsmanship behind each coffee, while connecting more easily with specialty coffee culture.
