Opening in Summer 2020 means outdoor seating options, so the addition of a parklet—marked by greenery-filled planters and bistro tables and market umbrellas—only enhances the garden setting. Inside, a combination of painted brick, green lattice work, velvet, warm wood and glittering glass chandeliers blends seamlessly with the patterns designed for FelixRoastingCo.’s signature wall paper, upholstery and packaging. Serving as designer, creative director and partner for this project, Ken Fulk and proprietor Matthew Moinian set out to reimagine the daily ritual of a morning coffee with the antithesis to the industrial-styled cafes that prevailed. Taking that one step further for their second act, Fulk’s team was inspired by the new neighborhood; The design of Felix Soho nods at the resurgence of romance in fashion—from the Chanel show at the Grand Palais in Paris to the floral appliques of Dior Resort 2021collection. The 1,500-square-foot space is divided into four distinct zones marked by a series of lattice archways that create an enfilade and complement exposed brick walls painted in a rosy cream hue. In a tribute to the original location, the concrete floors are painted with a radiating pattern of green and pale pink and the walls are adorned in a series of original wallpapers based on the arabica flower.
