The goal of Barista Improving Taste (B.I.T.) packaging and design was to be efficient, useful, reusable, appealing and attention-grabbing; a good show case for an innovative product. Baskets and screens have always been displayed enclosed in a cardboard box or aluminum tin, like something to be hidden. Barista Improving Taste’s clear design bag is changing that, while preserving the integrity of the product from external agents. The see-through window reveals the beauty of what is inside and it gives a message of trust and sincerity to the final customer. A bag that could stand, be laid flat or hang for display purposes. The Barista Improving Taste’s bag is multifunctional and thought to be used, and re-used, being stylish, functional and versatile.

Normally packaging in the market will be thrown in the garbage after the product is unveiled. The goal with B.I.T. was to create a bag that could travel, get wet, be squeezed, or dropped, while maintaining a better shape and look compared to the classic cardboard box. Design that encourages the customer to use the bag as a storage to contain beans for single dose grinder use, for different tools, storage and display by the coffee corner, display to be sold or even my son’s missing Lego pieces! The design uses a font that doesn’t exist on the market because it has been specially created for this product. It is fresh, dynamic, vibrant, appeals to the coffee industry and leaves a positive evolutionary message. The color scheme not only stands out and grabs the attention of passersby, it is memorable, and conjures images of the full ripe yellow bourbon cherry tree at origins.
