In Portuguese, something that calls attention to the public is phrased, “Chamar atenção.” Working directly and intimately with micro-producers in Brazil, we needed our bags to reflect our extensive and groundbreaking relationships to the farms—-we needed something that would “call attention” to the details of these incredible farm-direct relationships. Focusing on the unique coffee varieties and various fermentation techniques, we crafted a bag design that highlighted the diverse spectrum of coffee cultivars that our producers grow: from the first-ever SL28 grown on Brazilian soil to Catuais crossed in Brazil’s world-class laboratories, our producers are always looking to grow and develop coffees that offer the highest cup quality, variety and resistance to disease.

At first glance, you’ll notice the color contrast on the labels-bright, refulgent hues inspired by the coffee’s cup profile are on full display. In bold, we’ve highlighted the Cultivar, immediately followed by the producer’s name. Each bag tells a story of the producer and our relationship to their coffee(s). On the back, we have sealed each bag with a picture of the producer. At Aquarela Coffee, we complete the cycle by putting the final touches on these coffees. Through roasting, brewing and packaging, we can showcase the nuances and variation of specialty coffee grown in Brazil. However, it is our producers and their micro-farms that produce the real magic. With everchanging climate challenges and a volatile coffee market, they deserve to be recognized and applauded for their efforts and dedication to pushing the boundaries in the specialty coffee industry.
